# OpenAI Agents SDK

> Use Box Mount to give a sandbox agent built with the OpenAI Agents SDK governed access to a Box folder.

The [OpenAI Agents SDK](https://developers.openai.com/api/docs/guides/agents/sandboxes) runs sandbox agents in an isolated, Unix-like workspace. Box Mount maps a Box folder to a standard POSIX path in that workspace, so your agent works with ordinary file operations while Box remains the system of record.

## Before you begin

On the Box side, you need:

* Access to the Box Mount developer preview, including the Box Mount binary. To request access, complete the [Box Mount developer preview form](https://bit.ly/box-mount-preview).
* A Box app configured for OAuth 2.0 or JWT. See [Configure credentials](https://developer.box.com/guides/box-mount#configure-credentials).
* The ID of the Box folder you want to mount. This is the number at the end of the folder URL on Box.

## Demo video

This demo uses the OpenAI Agents API, which runs agents in a sandbox hosted by OpenAI. A lead agent mounts a Box deal room, reads the source files, launches 3 specialist agents in parallel, and writes 4 reports back to Box. When a customer revises a contract in Box, Box Mount syncs the new version into the sandbox and the agents refresh the reports, while Box keeps the revised contract as a new file version.

## Set up Box Mount with the Agents SDK

Follow [Sandbox agents](https://developers.openai.com/api/docs/guides/agents/sandboxes) in the OpenAI documentation. A `Manifest` describes a sandbox agent's workspace, and `BoxMount` is one of the manifest entries you can use to make external storage available inside the sandbox. Sandbox agents are available in the TypeScript and Python Agents SDKs.

Keep Box credentials out of prompts, agent instructions, and committed manifests. See [Secure your credentials](https://developer.box.com/guides/box-mount#secure-your-credentials).

## Next steps

* Review the Box Mount [known limitations](https://developer.box.com/guides/box-mount#known-limitations) before you build on the preview.
